Each year the Roundtable prepares a special workshop that specifically addresses the concerns and responsibilities of Executive Clinical Directors.

The Health Roundtable welcomes back Dr Jeanne Huddleston from the Mayo Clinic to deliver a full day interactive workshop on Healthcare systems engineering approach to solving the unsolvable.

Jeanne is a leader of Quality and Safety at the Mayo Clinic.
As well as being a specialist physician, Jeanne completed
an industrial engineering degree, which allowed her to
translate a systems engineering and design methodology
to solve health care delivery’s toughest problems. Amongst
many achievements, she embedded systems engineering and
reliability principles into the multispecialty and multidisciplinary
100% mortality review system at Mayo Clinic. Over the last year,
Jeanne has been engaged to assist many hospitals in the USA
and around the world (including Tasmanian hospitals) with their
quality improvement initiatives.

The days of relying on ‘low hanging fruit’ health initiatives are gone. Everything we face in healthcare is multifaceted and involves more than one patient and provider group. Skills are needed from a wide variety of disciplines to solve today’s tough health care problems. Using a combination of case-based teaching, small group discussions and an audience response system, participants will learn how to apply healthcare
systems engineering principles to understand, measure and improve a current difficult problem.
