Improving clinical documentation and coding in paediatrics

At Waikato DHB the paediatric department has implemented a coding checklist and trained junior doctors to use the checklist with every discharge. They also have regular meetings with coders to decipher ambiguous data. They now have data they can rely on for quality improvement, peer comparisons, service development and research.
